FISHKILL – Chevron continues its ongoing support of the local community by presenting two organizations with donation checks immediately preceding the Citizens Advisory Panel (CAP) meeting at the Slater Chemical Firehouse in Glenham, NY last week. Chevron (and formerly Texaco) has been a member of the community since 1931 and is currently remediating the property at the former Texaco Beacon Research Center in Glenham.
Chevron’s Public Affairs Advisor Madonna Smith presented James Pavelock, Commissioner of Glenham Fire District, with a check for $3,500. As in previous years, Chevron’s donation is being used to support the purchase of equipment that will enhance the services the fire district can provide.

Specifically, this year’s donation will help the fire district secure two thermal imaging cameras that will enhance the response of the Slater Chemical Fire Company to incidents requiring this type of equipment. The new equipment will also enhance the protection and safety the Fire District provides to the community.
“The former Texaco Research Center in Beacon has always been very active in supporting community organizations,” said Mark Hendrickson, Chevron Environmental Management Company. “We look to make contributions that we know will make a difference and benefit the local community.”
A donation check was also presented to Dr. Barbara Walkley of the Beacon City School District for $8,500. The money will help support the school district’s pilot STEM program, which will service approximately 150 children. STEM program curriculum is based on educating students in four specific disciplines—science, technology, engineering and mathematics—in an interdisciplinary and applied approach. It prepares students to be technologically and engineering literate by Grade 12.
For many years, Chevron has provided financial support for many local initiatives and organizations, always looking for ways to assist communities where it does business.
