FISHKILL – Chevron has once again demonstrated its support for the local community by presenting a check for $2,000 to the Beacon Arts Community Association, on behalf of the Beacon Arts and Education Foumndation. The Foundation raises money to support a more comprehensive education in fine arts, including music, for the students of the Beacon City School District. The foundation purchases art supplies, instruments and supports performances by students which the schools’ budgets will not allow for at times. Although it is not entirely responsible for funding the fine arts program, it has been said that without the support of the foundation, Beacon City Schools would not have a fine arts curriculum.

“We are proud to support an organization that helps make student programs and activities available that would not otherwise be achievable,” said Madonna Smith, Chevron’s public affairs advisor. “They are deeply committed to enriching the educational experience for the students of the school district.”

The check was presented to Meredith Heuer, former chair and current board member of the Beacon Arts and Education Foundation, by Madonna Smith and Mark Hendrickson of Chevron immediately preceding the Citizens Advisory Panel (CAP) meeting at the Slater Chemical Firehouse in Glenham, NY last month. The current plan for the donation is to purchase musical instruments for the children of the Beacon City School District.

Over the years, Chevron has provided financial support for many local initiatives and looks for ways to assist communities where it does business.
