The Working Group, a broader set of community stakeholders identified by the Community Advisory Panel, met on May 17, 2017 at Slater Chemical Fire Hall. The meeting began with a safety moment and an overview of the evening’s agenda.
The Working Group is currently in the Fact Finding portion of design charrette process. The last two meetings have focused on building a shared knowledge of the regional, environmental, and market contexts to inform the design charrette. Each section involved a review of collective feedback from the prior meeting in addition to identifying any other questions that would be helpful to answer in advance of the design charrette.
Working Group participants were provided with a site environmental update, followed by a briefing on regional considerations, such as: traffic volumes, transportation infrastructure, greenways and trails, and bike facilities in the area. Participants were asked to validate a variety of maps at the conclusion of the meeting. Site-specific features were presented to the Working Group, including: flood mapping, zoning, land uses, ecological features, and the Fishkill Comprehensive Plan. Next, a more detailed market study overview highlighted the industrial, office, retail, and residential trends for Dutchess County. The meeting concluded with a preview into potential uses and program options for the site, along with prototypes for open space, commercial, food and beverage, office, residential, and other uses. The evening’s presentations were intended to set the stage and overall context for the forthcoming design charrette.
The next Working Group meeting will take place on July 12.
