The Former Texaco Beacon Research Facility Community Advisory Panel met on August 29, 2019 at the Slater Chemical Fire Hall. The meeting began with introductions followed by a safety moment.

Craig Butler and Mark Hendrickson made a presentation to the group regarding the Remedial Investigation. The Remedial Investigation or RI is the culmination of years of data gathering, edited into a report format and submitted to the New York Department of Environmental Conservation. The report will inform the decisions made in the final environmental remedy at the site. The report will be made available at the Blodgett Memorial Library.

Craig summarized the conclusions of the RI report, including regarding groundwater sampling and the human health and ecological risk assessments.

There was a robust discussion about the findings of the report as well as questions regarding the future redevelopment of the site. Mark Hendrickson relayed that the Chevron is still working through the details of evaluating its portfolio of legacy properties and that more information would be available to the community in the future. The meeting was adjourned.
